Customer Evaluations

The purchase of this product was a knee jerk reaction/buy to getting broken into last fall. The option of having absolutely nothing vs getting to subscribe to an alarm service was not pleasing. A relative has a similar DIY alarm program and stated they were pleased with it and this supplied a middle ground.
As stated, the instructions are a small tricky to digest at first, but once you recognize it, it is pretty straightforward to program the unit and sensors. (The image shows the alarm getting an extendable antenna as well as the sensors, but the unit received did not have any.)
The supplied no name batteries did not last rather lengthy. The one particular motion sensor that is in a high visitors area died with in 3 months and the replacement battery is not undertaking so well (brand name). So don't be shocked if you have to replace the 9V battery twice or 3 instances a year in high site visitors places. The remote control battery is an odd ball size that I only found at Radio Shack (did not look on the web, it was in fact stocked). I purchased added motion sensors and the door sensors I have not mounted yet. Hold additional batteries for the sensors around and check the sensors that they are working.
The unit is suppose to have a battery backup, but I have yet to see how that functions. If you have to manually switch it more than, then it is pointless (only skimmed the manual). I unplugged the unit expecting it to keep "alive" and it went off. If I want it to last/work in the course of a power outage, I may well as properly get an uninterrupted power provide they use for computer systems. Also, when the unit is plugged into the telephone line and you are working with it, it makes a beeping or chirping noise that is heard. If the telephone is plugged into the unit, it truly hangs up on you! Factory says this is not suitable, but I do not want to sent it back and NOT have protection.
I purchased two units, giving a single to a friend who has seasoned a number of break-ins. Due to the fact then, he has been broken into when because it was installed. The unit did contact him and his children and he named me to check his home (much less then five min way). He also did not use the door sensor, only relying on the supplied motion alarm. The alarm will scare people today off, but be warned, there is nevertheless time amongst activating and actually acquiring an individual there- at least 5-7 min or much more. If you want a faster response time, then pay for a monitored alarm service. (Or purchase the external siren to alert neighbors quicker.) As soon as I walked into my property forgetting to disarm the unit with the remote manage, it went off utilizing the motion sensor and referred to as me with in 5-7 seconds of going off. I test my sensors at least every single three-4 months to make sure they set the unit off and to make sure it calls me.
I have knowledgeable a single false alarm. The unit went off and known as. Upon inspection of house, the unit reset it really is self (I did not memorize all the codes for remote operation)- all doors and windows had been secure. Unit was still armed when entering (implemented remote to disarm). It is unclear if it was a malfunction, or if the motion sensors detected a motion. We have never ever had any challenges with drapes and heat vents in the past, but we suspected it. Unless somebody was attempting to jimmy a sliding glass door and brushed up against the blinds making movement(?)- but I have not tested that notion.
It was advise by neighborhood law enforcement that an external audible siren be also implemented. The internal alarm and unit going off is enough for 'noise' inside the household, but for an alarm to function successfully, an external siren is recommended to alert neighbors of any difficulties. (I perhaps ordering alot more internal plug in sirens or 1 or two external battery powered sirens.)
Would I suggest this alarm? Yes and no. Does it work... yes, but not perfectly. Are there greater out there, I'm positive there are. Do your research, see what is accessible. I have it already, so I am creating do.
(Alarms are just one particular tool to assist secure a location. It is not a substitute for not having superior door locks/dead bolts. Subsequent step in dwelling defense is to install cameras to record the exterior and any visitors. That way, intruders 'risk' becoming identified if they try.... Numerous layers of protection will HOPEFULLY deter intruders from deciding upon your home. And yes, dogs are component of that layer also!)
PS-
Significant NOTE---- Important NOTE
Imperative: When making use of an alarm system that does NOT call a safety monitoring service, DO NOT tell people that. It's greater to make men and women assume it is a MONITORED service. If you tell "buddies" and the word gets about, the incorrect men and women could find out. And then the incorrect folks know that they have "time" before somebody truly shows up. Perfect?

This is Wonderful, very easy to setup and use. Only issue missing is it being in a position to link to a wired Siren.
