I bought the 2 camera process and this camera is Super! Yes you have to run a wire to power it (Duh!). But the signal is sent via two.4ghz. RF (the wireless component). You can mount the tiny DVR anyplace that you can get reception. I have mine down in the Den next to my recliner, but, you can move it quickly if you need to have to monitor from, say, the kitchen. The two way "intercom" is nice to have!
If you need power outage protection, you will need to have to install a ups power outlet for each camera (use one for a laptop and hook the camera provide into the outlet from the ups)
I set up the method and installed two cameras in an afternoon with no any strain. It did take a little planning, but, it was genuinely straightforward.
It is a lot more affordable than the multi thousand dollar systems. And the pictures (even just after dark) are spectacular!
I have this up and operating for 1 month and it is awesome...the picture high quality is beneficial, sound excellent beneficial, and night vision is really good, I would order this once more..A+
