    Client Critiques

I attempt to preserve up writing critiques for items I invest in, especially the items that I myself do a lot of investigation on, before purchasing. So I'll break this down as ideal I can. I reside in a 2-story, 2800 square foot property. And for the longest time, I've wanted a surveillance system to make me really feel secure both when I am at house and away. The Logitech camera system and software program does it correct, with only a handful of minor concerns, and I tension minor.
I have an Apple router but run Windows 7 on my Computer I'm also working with the cost-free application on my iPhone. I had zero troubles with the computer software install, even when it came to Window's firewall. I'm currently running 2 indoor cameras and 1 outdoor camera...but, I truly strategy on making use of absolutely nothing but outdoor cameras for my whole process (to include things like for inside surveillance). And that's about the only real matter I have with the process. The indoor camera functions amazing and does what it need to. It delivers great good quality color video and even over the iPhone application or more than the web (from Logitech's website), all of my buddies all have said, "Wow, that looks amazing!" BUT, and it is a major BUT, as soon as the sun goes down, the indoor cameras are incredibly limited. Shy of the poor guy turning on all of the lights in my home, then committing his crime, the indoor camera is of little use for the duration of nighttime hours. And at 1st, I was okay with that because I am residence at night and it is truly the daytime when no one is house. But then I purchased the outdoor Logitech camera and WOW, what a difference mainly because it holds the rather exact same quality as the indoor camera, but also does a phenomenal job at night. So with that, I am going to return the indoor cameras and use the outdoor cameras for outside as well as inside. But I still want to give my assessment on the indoor camera as I've been employing it for about a month now.
    Pros:
Color Top quality. Again, wonderful color quality. Even utilizing the digital zoom, I was impressed at how fine it looks. My wife being the glass half empty sort of person commented that you cannot see the face of the individual all that nicely. But my reply was - but you can confident as heck see his race, clothing description, weight, height, hair color and most importantly you can see if he is or is not wearing gloves...hence, you could see clearly where he may possibly have left evidence (fingerprints, DNA, and so on).
Included 2GB media card. This is a amazing feature This signifies that if negative guy breaks in and thinks he's outsmarting you by stealing your laptop (with the footage of him), you can still revert back to the camera itself to retrieve the footage saved to the media card. An additional superb issue about the camera media card is that your home computer system does not need to have to be usually on to be recording. For instance, my computer system goes into sleep mode soon after about an hour of inactivity. So if my laptop or computer is in hibernate mode for a complete day, the cameras are still recording footage and will sync to my computer when it awakes. For it to perform seamless, I just leave the Logitech software program running in the activity bar (background).
Software program. Logitech did it suitable with the software. It was a rather hassle-free install, attributes are clear and I love that you can customize each camera you have on your network. For example, out of the 3 cameras I have, I only want 1 of them to send off text message alerts. Once more, it is great that the alerts are not just a technique feature, but rather an individual camera setting. You can also adjust the duration of alerts to save oneself from acquiring thousand texts. For me, a 5 minute window is perfect, just as long as I get the initial text, I would not be concerned about obtaining 20 way more in beneath a five minute or nevertheless lengthy of a window you opt for. I also like the way the software saves all of the recorded video. With 3 cameras going, I've been obtaining a lot of recorded footage. The computer software not only enables you to use decide on a given date and time to research, but if you had been to search out for that file in Windows explorer, the computer software does a awesome job by saving the footage beneath the name of camera (for instance "Living Room"), then the month (ten for October), then the day within that month. Being a police officer, I really like that if I had to turn over vital footage (if my house was burglarized, etc), all of the footage would have clear a folder structure and time stamp that would make sense to any other investigating officer.
Alerts. This feature sealed the deal for me buying this program to begin with. You pick a zone in which if motion occurs, an alert will be sent. For example, despite the fact that my camera has a quite wide shot of my living space to incorporate front door, my only concern is if movement is picked up at the front door. Once motion is detected, a text message is sent to my phone. The alert text message is amazing it says what camera picked up what motion and at what date and time...straightforward and effective. BUT, I will mention alerts in the Cons section, so please read on.
Camera size. Once more, I have both the indoor and outside camera and was especially impressed by how compact they were. I also lucked out that I have power sources on best of my potter shelves, so I was able to plug in the cameras with out any wires becoming run down walls, etc. And mainly because the cameras are smaller, I've in fact told good friends that I have the cameras and it still took them a while to in fact figure out where.
The "wow" factor. I'll admit it, I'm that guy who loves his tech toys, who loves showing off new technology and how I make it operate for my family's safety. The very first day when I showed all of my police good friends the process, absolutely everyone was amazed. I should get a kick back from Logitech on all of the potential clients I made for them. Being able to open the iPhone app and show my good friends that I have 24/7 surveillance of my property, felt pretty cool. The iPhone app also operates rather well more than 3g cell service (not just wi-fi).
    Cons:
Cost. Properly I mentioned the "wow" factor when I showed off the process to my buddies. Properly, I got the very same expression when I told them how much. For me to get 6 cameras, all of them getting the outdoor cameras, is a bit pricey. But, I will say that the software program becoming absolutely free is great. It is also great to know that every camera comes with that 2GB media card (a different plus that make the high costs seem understandable). And while I'm not that interested in audio, once more, if you're going to spend the large bucks for a camera, at least it gives you color and audio as an option.
Night time good quality. Again, if all you care about is crystal clear footage in the daytime, then the indoor camera is for you. But for me, I began to get frustrated that for so a lot cash, I was only obtaining daytime footage. For a bit a lot more cash per camera, I really feel that it was nicely worth it, to be able to see what's going on in my residence 24/7.
Logitech server. This is a hard one particular to clarify, but I'll do my greatest. When you install the cameras and software program, the alert technique is dependent on Logitech's servers / service. In the month that I've been employing the camera, I only had 1 time that their servers went down. In that time, the cameras in my house were recording as they should certainly BUT the alert notification system will not operate if Logitech's service is down or disrupted. Despite the fact that it was only down for a couple of hours, I was nonetheless pretty unpleased offered the reality that the alert method is what it is all about. I don't want to come household to obtain my house has been burglarized and did not get a text due to the fact the servers were down. Rather, I want to get a text message telling me an individual is there, that way I can call the police and raise my chances of obtaining the suspect even though he is nevertheless in the residence. The alert service has only been disrupted once, but makes me nervous for what is to come down the road as these cameras begin to sell.
Alerts. Once again, read my Pros section about the alert function. Where I had a trouble is how long it can take to get the alert text message. I've done some particularly substantial testing and it ranges among 40 seconds to 4 minutes from when my telephone gets the alert text message. Now four minutes could possibly not appear like a long time, but a skilled criminal can do A LOT in just a handful of minutes. I am not too happy about the variations on alert instances, specifically considering that there appears to be no rhyme or reason as to why often I get the notification in under a minute, but other occasions over three minutes. Clearly, it has to do with Logitech servers.
Plug outlet needs. Even though I get why you have to plug in your unit to the actual wall, it does not mean I have to like it. It is been a little bit of a challenge with some of my cameras to get a superior discreet place coupled with getting an out there outlet there. I am guessing that at some point, Logitech will start promoting overpriced extension cords or power bars that allow the cameras to operate even devoid of becoming straight plugged into the wall. I believe a read few reviews from folks that have performed this although I would reside to get their reply or feedback in this evaluation thread.
    Thanks for reading!
    Updated Review 12/19/11
So soon after even more than a year of owning these surveillance cameras, I wanted to update my review.
Originally I bought the indoor cameras, but, fast realized that the outdoor cameras are your greatest bet - even if the cameras are all for the inside of your dwelling. I still strongly stand behind that assertion. Immediately after a year, I've upped my method to four outdoor cameras that are placed in and outside of my household.
I have to say that after a complete year, I'm nevertheless quite pleased with the system and I use it each day. One particular aspect of the system that did get a welcomed update is the iPhone / iPad application. The top component of the updated app is the ability to see all of your cameras' viewpoint without having to selectively decide on every camera. Even though I... Read more›

From the moment I opened the box the Logitech Alert 750e Outdoor Master Security Program with Night Vision was rather painless to know and had great setup diagrams with color coded ribbons for strain free setup. Where I was mounting the unit 20 feet off the ground I connected almost everything in the residence and tested it to make certain it was operating 1st. Once the camera was mounted in spot I merely adjusted it to the area I wanted to monitor and then applied electrical tape around the mount joints as they are not as tight as I would have expected and I did not want to have to climb a ladder after each wind storm to adjust. Setup was incredibly rapid just after installing the mounting bracket.
It should be noted the the ribbon (power) cable that connects to the outdoor camera is so flat and thin that you can bring it in via a window without compromising the window seal when the window is fully closed. This is a enormous plus as I did not will need to drill a hole for it.
I set up e mail alerts and also I extremely recommend if you have some blowing tree branches in view as I do that you set up particular regions for movement detections. If you do this and set the motion rate for recording you will capture only scenes of interest which makes it so much less difficult when reviewing recordings.
The master program comes with the network hardware and the invaluable command center. This is incredibly very easy to navigate. You can zoom, pan and tilt effortlessly. I am thinking of adding this software for remote viewing as properly.
The night vision is suprisinging quite very fine in low to know light. I am highly impressed with the night vision and have to say that it is properly worth the additional revenue.
The only drawback I can see to this system is that if you allow and use the audio component which comes built in and has wonderful range, picks up way to much wind. I would like to see an add on for wind noise reduction. This would not keep me from hugely recommending this product. I did a lot and I mean a lot of investigation (hands on and reading) just before generating my choice to acquire this camera and I am particularly glad I did.
I hugely advocate this item! Picture is highly clear not washy like others. The audio is excellent adequate to capture voices and sounds with in the entire viewing places and sometimes beyond.
I was not in a position to figure out how to upload a few pictures with this assessment otherwise I would have.
Thank you Logitech for a superb and properly built system that appears to have it all.
