I have read all the security critiques on Amazon from all the distinctive safety MFG's. Skylink, GE, Bulldog Safety etc. I was impressed that the reviews on this item did not mention anything about poor high quality, poor range etc. I initial called the AAS security many people and was impressed that over the telephone they could answer all my questions. I would like to let you know that the main programmer/ auto dialer is the same on all their units from AAS100 to AAS600 systems. The only distinction is the quantity of door sensors, motion detectors, sirens and so on etc. They have so lots of extra add on's for their safety system it is amazing, such as remote wireless sirens, smoke detectors, gas detectors, water detectors and significantly more and way more. So I ordered a custom unit from them: 1 principal programmer/dialer, 1 remote siren and 3 motion detectors and 2 remote key pods. I setup the method on my kitchen table in about 1/two an hour. The siren is loud, considering the fact that I purchased the separate wireless siren unit it can be placed anywhere you have an AC outlet. The motion detectors perform beautiful. Not as well sensitive but function at long distances. I place 1 on the motion detectors in my den and it looks into my kitchen and will detect you if you walk at the end of the kitchen 40ft away.The main programmer has built in battery backup. I have a 3000 sq ft property and I do not know where to place the 3rd detector, the other two detectors cover my entire first floor. I've only had it for a week but I am impressed. The program is great. No complications. I use VOIP Vonage for my dwelling phone and it functions awesome on out going alerts from the AAS 100 safety system, but on incoming calls the Vonage answering service will answer and I cannot dial into the AAS 100. SO....I purchased the VOIP Grandstream Handystream 286 adapter from Amazon went to CallCentric and signed up for their VOIP telephone . Its ideal for a alarm technique mainly because it will dial out and I can now contact in to my alarm. Cost? $1.95 per month. Excellent! If any individual finds a much better VOIP supply let me know!
Second update:
Located out my dog can set off the motion detectors. No dilemma, raised the pointing angle and now my pug does not set off the alarm. My wife and I set it each and every time we go out. Even with the dog at home. Adore this program.
Third update Feb 2011:
Technique nonetheless working excellent. Had to replace the 9V batteries for two of the motion detectors, so I would say they last about 6 months. I replaced the batteries on all the units anyway. Uncomplicated to do, and I did not have to reprogram any of them. Amazon has some great deals on 9V Alkaline batteries. I also dropped my VOIP CallCentric and I just use the Vonage VOIP. No desire for two systems, I never had to dial into the security technique, no false alarms!
Had this alarm system for the final two months. Also, bought the GSM Cellular Module, since I don't have a land-line.
Right after becoming broken into my previous spot, an alarm system was a have to have for our new apartment property. Ahead of moving in, I began the installation.
